NURTURING IN NATURE

Postpartum foods are lovingly and thoughtfully created with priority given to local, organic, and seasonal produce and proteins. Further priority is given towards foods that support recovery, lactation, and postpartum nutritional needs. "Mothering the mother" or giving that taken-care-of, well-looked-after support to the birthing person so that they only have to (get to!) rest and recover, can be as simple as soup.

As your kitchen doula, I bring all the ingredients and any needed cookware and cook in-home for up to 8 hours. You're left with a smattering of soups, stews, baked or roasted things like shepherd's pie or roasted chicken and veg, breakfast items, and snacks! The goal is up to 30 meals, with about 4 servings of each meal - two for you and two for your partner. Prepared foods are stored in deli quarts, vacuum seal bags, or your preferred containers. The idea is some for now and some for later, to stretch the meals over two weeks. Alternatively, gobble them up over a week, and have nearly all meals covered for a week.
Current Rotation
Foods vary weekly depending on seasonal availability of produce. Generally speaking, one day of kitchen doula-ing will include one stew, one bean soup, one pureed soup, one brothy soup, and one porridge-y soup, in addition to the bakeable item and snacks. By default, the menu follows an omnivorous diet, with little to no dairy. All soups are gluten-free. Vegan and vegetarian diets can be accommodated with advance notice.
